What if my child is sick or absent on picture day?
Chances are, we will be back to your school again; most schools schedule a retake day, but it is important not to let this date pass you by!

Is there an option for retouching on my child's complexion?
Yes! Please be sure to mark on your order form that you wish to add on this option!

Why is our school offering spring portraits since my child was photographed in the fall?
Fall portraits are usually required for your child's school records and for yearbook publication. In addition, many schools choose to offer spring portraits for their variety and their casual look. Parents love the spring casual portraits because they are fun, and the kids love the novelty items.

1.  What is the delivery time for our portraits?

On average, it will take approximately 3 weeks for your portraits to arrive.  If your school has a class composite picture as part of the package those will be sent separately after retakes.

2.  How long does it take for each class to be photographed?

The average class of 25 students takes approximately:

K - 2nd, 25 minutes

3rd - 6th, 20 minutes

7th - 11th , 15-20 minutes

We photograph all students by name using our "bar code" system.  Approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the photography date, we will ask your school to supply us with a student list.  This list should include name, grade, homeroom, and teachers name.  If possible, we would like to have the file for this information on CD.  The file format should be:  ASCII, Comma delimited, DBF, Excel  With this process we will generate bar codes.  The cards will arrive to you sorted by grade, homeroom or teacher's name.  Please hand the camera cards to the students just before coming to the photographer.  This will insure that the card does not get lost or damaged.

3.  How should we bring the classes to the photographer?

Classes should arrive at the photographer in an orderly fashion with the help of a teacher or para.  When using our "STANDARD PROGRAM" students should come to the photographer with picture money envelope and camera card in hand.  When camera cards are used it is NOT necessary to bring students tot he photographer by packet purchased.

If your school is using our "COLOR CHOICE" program, the students MUST come the photographer with picture money envelope, camera card, and in the order of color background purchased (1 through 6).  Any student not purchasing a packet will receive the GRAY background.  All teachers will receive the GRAY background also.

4.  Can the school help to make picture day an enjoyable experience for all?

Yes, although we try not to make picture day the school's responsibility, the day will move along smoother with the school's help.  The school can help in the following ways:

If the school has a particular schedule that has to be followed, just fax it to us ahead of time and we will go over it with our photographer.

  1. If possible, supplying parent aides to help the photographers stay on schedule.
  2. Following the time structure for classes stated earlier in this brochure.
  3. By making sure students come to the photographer according to the guidelines stated in this brochure.

5.  What if a student forgets his/her money on picture day?

Unfortunately, we would have to photograph the student as nonpaying.  That student will not receive a packet of pictures when the school photos are delivered.  We can have the student photographed again with their envelope and camera card on the absentee or retake date.

6.  Can more than one student be photographed in the picture?

Yes.  We do limit the number of children photographed to two.  Please see the photographer, he can let you know when would be the best time to bring the children to the camera.

7.  Where would be the best location to have the photographer setup?

A suitable place for picture taking would be: gym, stage, library, empty classrooms (without desks).  Our photography setup takes an area of 10x15 foot area.  This allows us enough room for students to move through the process and create a smooth picture day.

8.  What happens if a parent has a problem with their child's school picture packet?

Parents are to contact Skarpness School Portraits directly.  There is literature packed in every packet that informs them about procedures they should follow.

9.  Do you offer any additional photography services?

Yes we do!  We offer special "Spring Sale" programs and Holiday Programs.  These programs can benefit the parents by offering another opportunity have their children  photographed.  The programs can benefit the school as an additional "fund raiser".  They do not have to be photographed for the Holiday Program.  Call us for more details!
